Basant Sahu is a sensitive & creative artist, whose work generally reflects culture and life in the rural state of Chhattisgarh. He has exhibited his paintings in more than 10 solo and national exhibitions and more than 15 group exhibitions. Now he spends most of his time in bed because he is 90% disabled.  Still he does not separate himself from his social responsibilities. He has devoted his life to art and has had a passion to train little India.  He is continuously visiting naxal affected areas to express his thoughts on living and expressing their thoughts by painting for poor children there. Basant is disabled, not only in terms of his physical status, but financially also.  He has great passion to do something for his country, which he is trying to do through his work of art.  He has proved himself as an idol not only for the handicapped but for all of the world.

At the age of 21, he started a job of motor winding in a small shop. Two years after starting the job, he was traveling to a nearby village and had a tragic accident. Not seeing any movement in his body doctors declared Basant as dead.  Two hours later, he showed little movement in his body. Meanwhile, he traveled through a deep ocean of infinity and changed himself completely. The accident has made him 90% disabled.  Now he can't move without the help of any person.  He spends his life in a bed and a wheelchair.  Two years after the tragic accident, he started to express his thoughts through painting. At first, it was not possible for him to grab the brush or anything by his fingers. But it was just will power and inspiration of self assistance, which resolved him. By little movement of his wrist, he paints with a brush tied by a belt in a hand glove.
